Design a Postcard Competition

Former Portsmouth City Councillor Steve Pitt has arranged a prize of £500 to the person who designs us the winning design for a postcard for Portsmouth European Cities Twinning Association. An easy to share link for this post is tinyurl.com/ectcpcard

This postcard will be reproduced and available as a giveaway on the Twinning Committee stands at events across the city once it has been chosen and printed.

The back of the card will contain some information about how to contact the twinning group and possibly some activity for people to undertake.

The front of the card though should be a depiction of Portsmouth and its twin cities of Caen, France and Duisburg, Germany. The format of which is entirely up to you, so let's get creative!

There are many free postcard templates available online as a starting point if you need one.

We will accept entries electronically to this email address. Electronic entries are best as these are the easiest to reproduce. If you would like to produce your entry by hand simply scan it or take a high quality photo of it before submission.

We will have a stand at the France at Home market in Palmerston Road on Sunday November 28th 2021 should you wish to hand in an entry by hand.

The current closing date for submission of entries is Monday, February 28th 2022.

We are sure you already have ideas about what to put in your design to represent Portsmouth.

Portsmouth was first twinned with Duisburg in Germany in 1950. So this link is over 70 years old. On our website dedicated to this link there are many images of the city and on its blog you will also find further images. Duisburg City Tourist Office more images of Duisburg to give you an idea of what you might like to include.

Caen was first twinned with Portsmouth in 1987, one year after the ferry link which normally links both cities up to three times a day was established. This link is now over 30 years old.

On our website dedicated to this link there are many images of the city and on its blog you can also see further images. Caen City Tourist Office also has more images of the city which will give you an idea of what you might like to include.

The content is totally up to you. The only stipulation is that it needs to depict the link Portsmouth has with with Caen and Duisburg in a way that would be attractive to people and make them want to engage...

It is likely we will create a named entry gallery of the best entries we receive with the winner getting the £500 prize kindly donated by Steve Pitt and his associates.
